Health Department’s focus in the community is prevention

According to the Dubois County Health Department, there are NO confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Dubois County residents. 

“The main focus now is to prevent this infection in our local community,” administrative director Jo Ann Spaulding stated in a press release. “We all must do our part to implement social distancing, self-isolation, and good hand washing to prevent infection of this virus.” 

All testing performed by Indiana State Department of Health is done using their protocol. The Dubois County Health Department and Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center are REQUIRED to follow the Indiana State Department of Health Algorithm guidelines.

If you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 and develop a fever and symptoms such as cough or difficulty breathing, call your healthcare provider or the Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center Alternative Screening Site at 812-996-6330. They have extended hours and days they are open; Monday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Governor Eric Holcomb made several announcements during his press conference Thursday:

  • mandating closure of ALL public and private schools in the state until May 1, 2020 and canceling all state-mandated assessments for the current academic year
  • aligning with the federal government to delay the state of Indiana’s income tax payments from April 15 to July 15
  • providers of essential utility services such as gas and electric, water, etc. are prohibited from discontinuing services to any customer during this public health emergency
  • Eli Lilly and Company will be assisting the Indiana State Department of Health with expanding and accelerating COVID-19 testing in Indiana

El gobernador Eric Holcomb hizo varios anuncios durante su conferencia de prensa el 19/3-2020, que incluyen:

  1. We don’t have confirmed cases probably because no one is being tested. I went to the offsite testing facility and not until after being seen was I told they don’t test for Coronavirus. The entire county cold be infected
