Health Department urges businesses to follow closure order
“We urge all of local businesses to follow recommendations in Governor Holcomb’s Executive Order 20-08 from March 23, 2020, for the definition of essential services,” the Dubois County Health Department stated in a press release Wednesday.
This order provides an extensive list of activities that are permitted the department pointed out. Here is that list.
“We ask all businesses to look through this list and find the section that applies to you. We are relying on you to carefully evaluate your business to see if you qualify as an essential service. This applies to ALL businesses, large and small.”
If you cannot justify that you are providing an essential service, then we urge you to close at this time, the health department stated.
The ISDH set up the Critical Industries Hotline at 877-820-0890 or by emailing covidresponse@iedc.in.gov for any questions regarding business and industry questions.
For now, Dubois County Health Department will continue to use the guidance from the Indiana State Department of Health.

Has anyone heard an update/public statement from Masterbrand? My family member has to go in again with no news they are doing anything actually essential. I think it’s completely irresponsibe to rationalize a decision that puts the community at risk for no reason I can see. I see it as avoiding the intent of the Govoner’s stay at home order. Unemployment benefits are there for a layoff. If we don’t all work together the spread will not be slowed and the medical system will be overwhelmed. Just because people appear well does not mean they are not infected.
I agree… they have office people working from home which are the ones that have less risk of getting infected. They get to stay home with their kids and not be afraid of getting them selfs sick or their love ones. The floor associates that have to work shoulder to shoulder with co-workers are at higher risk of getting sick. I’m sure that cabinets are not essential at this point. Essential is food, disinfect supplies, doctors, law enforcement, and first responders. Any someone ends up sick, I’m sure company is not paying for medical expenses…
