Harold Lee Hoffman, 71, Crystal, passed away at 12:49 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.

Lee was born in Brazil, Indiana, on October 22, 1946, to Harold Wayne and Betty (Knust) Hoffman.

Lee owned and operated Hoffman Auto Supply in Rockport and Owensboro for many years. Earlier in his career he was a teacher at Heritage Hills High School. Lee graduated from Brazil High School and from Indiana State University with a bachelor’s degree in teaching. He was a Freemason with the Gentryville No. 424 Indiana Freemasons and also was a member of Hadi Shrine.

For over 30 years, Lee’s life passion was dirt track racing with several track championships and one of the most successful racing careers in the tri-state area.

He is survived by one daughter; Amy L. Hobbs (David) of Chandler; one son; Andy Hoffman (Jaline) of Jasper; his companion; Ruthann May of Crystal; four grandchildren, Caty, and Corryn Hobbs, Amanda Miller and Jordan Hoffman; three step-grandchildren;Natasha Brescher, Jesse Fromme, and Jocelyn Fromme.

Preceding him in death were two brothers; Wayne and Herbie Hoffman.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, IN.  Pastor Kris Brown will officiate.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the 3:00 p.m. service time on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.

Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Warrick County.

  1. I was so sorry to hear of Lee’s passing. We were friends when they lived in Rockport but had lost track of him since he had moved. He was a great friend and I will always remember the fun our family shared with his when we vacationed in Florida on year. Wonderful memories!
