Gordon W. Houchin, 75

Gordon W. Houchin, age 75, passed away at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday, (January 9, 2013) at his home.

He was born September 19, 1937 at Stendal, Indiana to Howard and Dessa (Bass) Houchin.

Gordon was a Korean War Navy Veteran; He retired as the manager of the Jasper Electric Department where he had worked for 28 years for the City of Jasper.

He was a member of the Winslow American Legion, Petersburg V.F.W. Post # 3587 and the Jasper Moose Lodge # 1175.

Surviving,

Joan Brown his companion for many years.

Two daughters,

• Cathy Cherry and her husband Alan, Huntingburg, IN
• Karen Andry and her husband Patrick, Birdseye, IN
• Step-son, Mark Chamness, Jasper, IN

Seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Two sisters,

• Barbara Craig, Francisco, IN
• Marilyn McCullough, Washington, IN

Preceding him in death is two brothers, Gerald Houchin and Joseph Gary Houchin.

Memorial service for Gordon W. Houchin will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (January 13, 2013) at the Becher – Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper with burial to follow at a later date. V.F.W. Post # 673 in Jasper will conduct military grave side rites. The Rev. Darrell Wineinger will officiate.

Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. Sunday until the service time at the funeral home.
