Gloria Irene Buecher, 93, Jasper
Gloria Irene Buecher, 93, of Jasper, passed away at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2020, in St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

Gloria was born in Jasper, Indiana, on September 12, 1926, to Frank and Freda (Mueller) Sermersheim.
She graduated from Jasper High School and attended Indiana University for one year. There she worked as a secretary for two professors in the audio-visual department and then, as a legal secretary in Indianapolis. She married the love of her life, Philip E. Buecher, at Our Lady of Springs Church in French Lick, Indiana, on August 7, 1948. Their marriage produced two daughters and lasted almost seventy years, until Phil’s death on January 11, 2018.
Gloria had many talents and interests. She had a flair for interior decorating and won quite a few championship awards in bowling, tennis and golf. She was an accomplished knitter, making afghans, scarves and booties for all of her family and friends. Other hobbies she enjoyed were reading, solving crossword puzzles and playing bridge and euchre.
She was a member and volunteer of Precious Blood Catholic Church, past president of Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, past president of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, a chairman for March of Dimes and was a Girl Scout leader for many years. Gloria and Phil enjoyed many years as members of the Jasper Country Club, playing golf and attending many social events.
Gloria is survived by her two loving daughters, Sheila Buecher of Louisville and Jayme (Rod) McComas of Carmel; her brother, Michael “Mickey” (Pat) Sermersheim of Louisville; two grandchildren, Adam Edwards of Indianapolis and Leslie (Ross) Hanna of Fishers; three great-grandchildren, Donovan Edwards, and Theo and Elle Hanna.
Preceding her in death besides her loving and devoted husband, are her brother, Denny Sermersheim and her sister, Mary Virginia Reese.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Gloria Irene Buecher will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2020, in Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to Precious Blood Catholic Church, Dubois County Community Foundation or to a favorite charity.
A special thanks to Gloria’s caregivers and many friends who were so generous and helpful after her husband passed. Your thoughtfulness will always be remembered.
