Georgene “Jeanne” M. Wagner, 91, Ireland
Georgene “Jeanne” M. Wagner, 91, of Ireland, passed away at 12:03 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2020, in St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.
Jeanne was born in Jasper on November 16, 1928, to George and Rose (Henke) Hochgesang. She married Robert Wagner on November 16, 1948, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1991.
Jeanne was a homemaker and member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland and the St. Ann’s Society. She enjoyed bowling, watching sports, especially the Cincinnati Reds and Purdue and I.U. sports.
She is survived by nine children, Steve (Vicky) Wagner of Huntingburg, Terry (Brenda) Wagner, Donald Wagner, Sam (Susan) Wagner, Tom (Mary) Wagner, Reynold (Pam) Wagner, all of Jasper, Ronald (Sarah) Wagner of Ireland, Rob (Christy) Wagner of Westfield, Cheryl (Dan) Fromme of Portersville; 29 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria Wehr and Roberta “Bert” (Gilbert) Neuhoff, both of Ireland; and two brothers, Oscar and Gilbert Hochgesang, both of Jasper.
Preceding her in death besides her husband are three children, Ruth Wagner Delp, Randy Wagner, and Marsha Steckler; five sisters, Florence Kessler, Bernetta Tabeling, Carolyn Mehringer, and infants, Loretta and Marie Hochgesang, and three brothers, Carl, Roman, and an infant Victor Hochgesang.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Georgene “Jeanne” M. Wagner will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2020, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at the church from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
The St. Ann’s Society will pray a rosary at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

We extend our sympathy to your family. My mom was a friend of Jeanne’s when she, too, was a resident at the St.. Charles Health Campus back in 2019. Jeanne would always have a smile when she passed mom’s room and saw her balloons, so mom asked my husband if he would get one for her, too, and she loved it tied onto her chair as her son was so good to take her on her multiple daily walks.
