G. Fern Steffe, 79, Jasper
G. Fern Steffe, 79, of Jasper, passed away at 6:20 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2020, in Brookside Village in Jasper.
Fern was born in Alfordsville, Indiana, on July 19, 1940, to John and Avis (Cocheran) Burris. She married Thomas Steffe on May 22, 2008, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.
She was a member of Redemption Christian Church in Jasper and the Women of the Jasper Moose, where she was a past president. She worked at Indiana Desk for over 15 years. She enjoyed gardening, canning, square dancing, pontooning, and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Steffe of Jasper; four children, Connie Bough of Poplar Grove, Ill., Gloria (Doug) Nordhoff of Jasper, Janet Jones of Jasper and Tony (Debbie) Osgatharp of Woodstock, Ill.; three stepsons, Doug (Becky) Steffe of Sharp Chapel, Tenn., Ron (Carol) Steffe and Dave (Gayla) Steffe, both of Jasper; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; one stepsister, Brenda (Bob) Bateman of Washington.
Preceding her in death are one sister, Clara Marie Halbert, and one brother, Norman Burris.
Private funeral services will be held at Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home in Jasper with burial to follow at a later date Vincent Christian Church Cemetery in Otwell, Indiana.

Fern was always smiling and friendly. We will miss her.
So sorry to hear of the passing of Fern. We were in the same class during the time she was in Alfordsville . I lost contact with her, but I have memories of our school years.
