Food inspection reports: Sept. 26 to Oct. 19

The following inspection reports are from inspections conducted from September 26 through October 19.

Inspection results from the Dubois County Health Department are published publicly after the restaurants and food stores have had 10 days to respond. Violations are corrected on the day of the inspection unless otherwise noted.

Holland American Legion Post #343: One noncritical violation — observed ready-to-eat product in walk-in fridge without dates (salads, baked potatoes, cheese) (repeat violation).

Dutch Mart – Blesch Sales and Services, Inc., Holland: No violations at the time of the inspection.

Chocolate Bliss, Jasper: No violations at the time of the inspection.

Chuckles/Shell Food Mart #21, Main Street, Dubois: One critical violation — Mold/dirt/dead pest buildup in reach-in coolors on back of northwest facing wall.

Citgo, Northside, Newton St., Jasper: No violations at the time of the inspection.

Cookies Around the Clock, W. State Road 56, Jasper: No violations at the time of the inspection.

CVS Pharmacy #6871, Ferdinand: No violations at the time of the inspection.

Dollar General Store #4509, Mannheim Road, Jasper: No violations at the time of the inspection.

Dollar General Store #7817, Ferdinand: One critical violation — observed multiple severely dented cans on shelves throughout the establishment. One noncritical violation — observed dirt and mold growth on drink racks in cold food section. (Both repeated violations)

Dollar Tree #01349, Newton St., Jasper: No violations at the time of the inspection.

Dorothea Dox Home (Southern Hills), 10th St. Huntingburg: One noncritical violation — dishwasher in kitchen observed to be in need of repair leaving the facility with only two ware washing steps.

Latin Cuban Restaurant, Newton St., Jasper: Two critical violations — the facility has no certified food manager; observed multiple products in walk-in cooler with no lids (repeat violation). One noncritical violation — kitchen area has only one light working.

El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant, Place Road, Jasper: One noncritical violation — three-door prep fridge observed to temp at 47 degrees.

Family Dollar #29125, 705 Main Street, Huntingburg: No violations at the time of the inspection.

Fazoli’s #1675, Third Ave., Jasper: Three noncritical violations (all repeat violations) — units in the production area, topping tables, upright fridge and freezer observed with food buildup; nonfood contact surfaces in the kitchen area floors, shelves, casters, showing signs of built up dirt and debris; and wall by exit door, open electrical outlet and door to fridge underneath the front register appear to be in need of repair.

Hardee’s, Jasper: No violations at the time of the inspection.

Hot Spot Bar & Grill, LLC, Dubois: Two noncritical violations — handwashing sink observed not being cleaned and maintain (food items in handwash sink); food contact items being stored directly on the floor (repeat violation).

Huntingburg Country Club: No violations at the time of the inspection.

Jasper Marathon (D-Rock, Inc), N. Newton Street, Jasper: Two noncritical violations — dead fly accumulation in Snapple refrigeration unit; debris buildup on drink and coffee nozzles (repeat violation).

Los Dos Charros Mexican Restaurant, Huntingburg: One critical violation — some read-to-eat products in fridges (salsas, onions, cheese) without dating system (repeat violation). One noncritical violation — handwashing sink observed to have food particles and dishes in it.

My Jalapeno, Inc., Huntingburg: No violations at the time of the inspection.

One Stop Convenience, Birdseye: No violations at the time of the inspection.

Homestead BBQ, Ferdinand: Okay to operate.

Quality Inn, Huntingburg: No violations at the time of the inspection.

Quality Inn & Suites, Ferdinand: One noncritical violation — yogurt refrigerator not equipped with temperature measuring device.

Southern Indiana Butcher Supply, Ferdinand: No violations at the time of the inspection.

Taco Bell #3001094, Ferdinand: One noncritical violation — observed heavy residue buildup on drink nozzles in drive thru area (repeat violation).

Wendy’s #340, Main St., Ferdinand: Three critical violations — observed potentially hazardous food items cold held at about 48 degrees F (repeat violation); observed significant dirt/grease/food debris throughout establishment including debris on food and nonfood-contact surfaces (repeat violation); significant water contamination noted near south-facing wall. Two noncritical violations — observed accumulation of dead pests near south-facing wall; food debris buildup noted on microwave hood.

Celestine Elementary: No violations at the time of the inspection.

Christian Ministries of Huntingburg, Inc.: No violations at the time of the inspection.

Market Street Soup ‘N’ Salad, Huntingburg: One noncritical violation — observed several light bulbs that are not shatterproof or have shields in the smoker area and prep.

Soup-n-Such Bistro, Ferdinand: No violations at the time of the inspection.

Clark Concessions, Haubstaudt: No violations at the time of the inspection.

Wings, Etc, Jasper: Two critical violations — food observed to be uncovered in reach-in freezer near grills (repeat violation); food in sandwich topping coolers observed without dates. One noncritical violation — handwash sink near warewashing station observed to only reach about 89 degrees F (repeat violation).

Country Sweet Rolls, Judy Schmitt, Haubstaudt: Okay to operate.

Seib’s Hoosier Honey, Mooresville, Ind.: Okay to operate.

Heine’s WFRB, Indianapolis: Okay to operate.

Pronto Pup Concessions, Vincennes: Okay to operate.

  1. Please clarify for all – noticed this more so the last two-three times but much before recently, if at all: Thought these inspections/reports were in and by Dubois Co. inspector(s). Why are we getting others out of county – some way out of county?
