Fire forces Jasper Burger King to close
Jasper Fire Department responded to a fire at the Burger King at 9:47 a.m. Thursday.
The building was evacuated and no one was injured during the incident.
According to Chief Kenny Hochgesang, they received a report of a fire in the restaurant and when they arrived on scene, found it concentrated in a wall on the building’s north side near the entrance.
Firefighters pulled fascia from the building to extinguish flames.
The fire badly damaged the building. The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office is expected to investigate to determine what started the blaze.
The restaurant has closed until further notice.
Six trucks and 32 firefighters responded to the fire and were on-scene over an hour.
The Jasper Police Department, Jasper Municipal Utilities and Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services assisted.
The facebook comment about a “flame-broiled building” was appropriate coming from a ham named Burger (hee hee).
