Evelyn L. Fischer, 79, of Jasper, passed away at 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2019, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

Evelyn was born in Jasper on May 16, 1939, to Clarence and Marie (Schuble) Vonderheide. She married Edwin F. Fischer on August 10, 1957, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
She had worked part-time for the Jasper Herald. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland and the Jasper Outdoor Recreation. She enjoyed camping, playing cards, visiting the casino, and spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by her husband, Edwin F. Fischer of Jasper; one daughter, Brenda Wirthwein (Bernie) of Huntingburg; one son, Steve Fischer (Sally) of Jasper; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was one son, Mike Fischer, one sister, Marilyn Albertson, and two brothers, Pete Vonderheide and Richard Vonderheide.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Evelyn L. Fischer will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana with burial to follow in the Jasper Enlow City Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Davita Dialysis Center, or to a favorite charity.

my husband Vic and I have lots of memories of days gone by – school days and growing up in Jasper. Evelyn always had a smile and greeting for classmates. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.
