Eugenia C. “Jeanie” Rahman, 86, Jasper
Eugenia C. “Jeanie” Rahman, 86, of Jasper, formerly of Ferdinand, passed away at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

Jeanie was born in Celestine, Indiana on August 11, 1935, to Leo and Veronica (Gadlage) Hoffman.
She married Henry H. Rahman on September 14, 1957, in St. Celestine Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1968.
Jeanie owned and operated Rahman Lumber Company in Ferdinand with her husband. After her husband’s death, she continued to operate Rahman Lumber until 1983. She then worked at Aristokraft in Ferdinand, then worked in the cafeteria at Jasper High School and the Son Shop Christian Bookstore in Jasper.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and their St. Ann’s Sodality. She was also a member of the Ferdinand Daughters of Isabella, the Celestine Community Club, the American Legion Auxiliary #124, the VFW Auxiliary #673, and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
She volunteered at the Memorial Hospital Gift Shop and the Dubois County Museum.
Jeanie enjoyed dancing, loved Polkas, Waltzes, and the Chicken Dance, playing cards with her card club, and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids.
She is survived by three daughters, Katharine “Kathy” Rahman of Antioch, Tenn., Cheryl “Sherry” Fleck (Mark) of Bretzville, and Joan “Joni” Rahman of Newburgh; one son, David Rahman (Angie) of Newburgh; five grandchildren, Kristi Fleck, Adam Fleck, Lydia Rahman, Cole Rahman, and Sydney Rahman; two great-grandchildren, Harrison and Quinn Fleck; one sister, Carol Knies (Paul) of Jasper; one brother, Alan Hoffman (Dana) of Jasper; two brothers-in-law, Jack Goodman and Linus Tretter, both of Celestine.
Preceding her in death besides her husband were two sisters, Shirley Goodman and Mary Lou Tretter.
A Mass of Christian burial for Eugenia C. “Jeanie” Rahman will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand, Indiana, with burial to follow in the St. Ferdinand church cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 3 pm until 7 pm on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana. The St. Ann’s Sodality will pray the rosary at 2:30 at the funeral home. The family requests masks for the visitation and Mass.
Memorial contributions may be to St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, or a favorite charity.
