Esther M. Giesler, 88, of Jasper, passed away at 12:05 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at the Timbers of Jasper.

Esther was born in Ferdinand on April 22, 1929, to Pius and Frances (Oeding) Oser. She married Arnold Giesler on October 16, 1948. He preceded her in death on August 3, 2010.

She retired as a supervisor from the Jasper Glove Company after many years of service. Esther was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and their Blessed Virgin Sodality. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, sewing and quilting, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters, Joey Hurm (Dave) of Jasper, Sandy Smith (Brad) of Jasper; one son, Mike Giesler (Alice) of Ireland; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother, James Oser (Rita) of Ferdinand.

Preceding her in death beside her husband were three sisters, Verena Manning, Olivia Meyer, and Lucille Oser who died in infancy; five brothers, Lawrence, Hugo, Paul, Raymond, and Hilary Oser.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Esther M. Giesler will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time on Monday, February 12, 2018, at Holy Family Catholic Church.   The Holy Family Blessed Virgin Sodality will pray the rosary at 8:45 a.m. at church.

  1. Dear Joey and family, we are so sorry to hear of Esther’s passing but more for the sorrow you all must now endure which will come most in the coming weeks. Please know we are thinking of you.
