Elmo F. Sollman, 91

Elmo F. Sollman, age 91, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 8:50 a.m., Monday, March 12, 2012 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
He was born May 1, 1920 in Stendal, Indiana to Oscar and Maggie (Rademacher) Sollman. He married Wilma Kathryn Burns on January 1, 1947 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Stendal.
Mr. Sollman worked 36 years as a coalminer for the Enos Coal Mine and the Old Ben Coal Mine. After his retirement from coal mining, he worked as manager of the Briarwood Apartments in Huntingburg.
He was a member of the Dubois County Masonic Lodge #520 F&AM where he was Grand Master from 1968-1969; and was a founding member of the Huntingburg V.F.W. Post #2366 where he served on the Memorial Detail as Sergeant of Arms for many years. Mr. Sollman served as a United States Army Staff Sergeant, in the Pacific Theatre, during World War II.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Wilma Kathryn Sollman, who passed away July 1, 1999; one sister, Doris Broeker; and three brothers- Leander Sollman, Kenneth Sollman and a brother who died in infancy.
He is survived by:
One son and one daughter-in-law,

Two daughters and two son-in-laws,
- Carol Ann (Rex) Bredemeier – Huntingburg, IN
- Kathy (Larry) Vonderheide – Huntingburg, IN
One brother,
- Chester Sollman – Evansville, IN
by (8) grandchildren, (8) great grandchildren and (1) great-great grandchild.
Funeral services for Elmo F. Sollman will be held at 10:00 a.m., Eastern Daylight Time, on Friday, March 16, 2012 at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Huntingburg. The V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites. Rev. Tom Wade will officiate the funeral service.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday. The Dubois County Masonic Lodge #520 F&AM will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m., Thursday evening, at the funeral home.
