Dubois County man arrested for sexual misconduct with a minor

Last Friday, a Dubois County man was arrested following an investigation into allegations sexual misconduct with a minor.

Indiana State Police Detective Jarrod Lents launched a criminal investigation on September 29, 2020, after receiving information from the Dubois County Department of Child Services concerning the allegations.

The investigation revealed that Derek T. Breitwieser, 30, had allegedly engaged in sexual misconduct with a minor under the age of 16 and sexual battery. This incident allegedly took place in Dubois County.

After reviewing the investigation, the Dubois County Prosecuting Attorney’s office filed for a warrant to be issued for Breitwieser’s arrest. A warrant was issued on October 16, 2020.

  1. Your article refers to this man as a “Dubois County man” twice. Has Dubois County incorporated French Lick as a territory or does someone there not know where the line is between Dubois County and Orange County?

    1. The Indiana State Police identified him as a Dubois County resident however his address may be listed as French Lick because of its proximity to his rural home. This happens sometimes in Birdseye as well when people actually live in Eckerty.

    2. Some residences in the Cuzco/Crystal area, despite having French Lick addresses, are actually in Dubois County also.
