Dubois County Health Dept update for Friday
The Dubois County Health Department reported the positive tests of COVID-19 in the county remains at 14 as of Friday, April 17 at 8 a.m.
In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the public is encouraged to continue to remain at home.
If you need to leave your home for essential work, or to shop for necessities and essential food or supplies, you must practice social distancing and are recommended to wear a cloth face covering, the department stated in a press release while reminding residents to wash their hands often and effectively.
“We must take every step recommended by state and local officials to contain the spread of this virus,” the stated. “The sooner transmission ceases the sooner we can all return to a life of normalcy. We know this is a difficult time for everyone, on so many levels: mentally, physically, financially, spiritually, and emotionally. We will get through this! #INthistogether“

Thank you for your reminder of practicing social distancing and taking specific precautions. Unfortunately I work at a Health care facility, were these precautions are ignored. I would like some feedback, as to how a facility can be made responsible for their irresponsible actions? Please advise, because many lives are being placed at risk.
Employees and concerned citizens can file an anonymous formal complaint with the Department of Labor at this link https://www.in.gov/dol/3144.htm.

I also work in healthcare and these are anxious times! We have to speak up and stay safe for the sake of the whole community. I feel like so many people don’t understand the risks taken and the value of nurses and aides especially-or they wouldn’t be so ready to go back to work and shopping.
Stay home a little longer everyone, just to slow the wave..Be patient, don’t become a patient!
Well, if you haven’t noticed by now, it’s not a perfect world, and while there’s a hotline and/or online reporting outlet for your issues, if we’re all waiting/hoping for total public buy-in or obedience to all the rules, mandates, practices and executive orders, et al, before we all come out from under beds and behind doors, it ain’t gonna happen. Life will never be guaranteed totally safe and never was. Sooner or later and like it or not, we’re gonna have to risk life outside the womb, so-to-speak, of over-restrictive government regulations and C-bug protective orders to take both the risks and reins of responsibility for our own well-being. But indeed we have a cause much greater than ourselves – that of our country, more important than life – to rescue and resuscitate, and not from the virus. But indeed with still some caution but mostly with common sense and for the greater good (the true, greater good) that can wait not until all is without risk as we may have thought before, we need to get moving – over/above fear, fear-mongering, etc. Enough.
Fear mongering? We’re in the middle of a deadly pandemic with over 33,000 Americans are dead so far and nearly 700,000 cases. Some of us would like to keep from becoming part of those statistics.
I will say…if nothing else, this whole horrible mess has been a interesting study in human psychology and how a little bit of inconvenience and sacrifice on the part of Americans quickly brings to light the ugly, awful truth of what our priorities really are as a nation.
