Dubois County COVID-19 cases increase to 9

As of April 8, at 8 a.m., two more COVID-19 cases have been identified.  There are now a total of nine positive COVID-19 tests among Dubois County residents.

We are working closely with ISDH and local officials to ensure that contacts of the patients are identified and monitored, said the Dubois County Health Department.

Anyone who may have an exposure risk has been notified about potential exposures so that appropriate infection control procedures can be followed. Both patients are in isolation.

The Dubois County Health Department continues to encourage and remind everyone that we should assume all people are potentially spreading the COVID-19 virus. STAY HOME, PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING AND GOOD HAND HYGIENE.

The ISDH and Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that all persons wear cloth face coverings to cover nose and mouth when out in a community setting especially in situations where you are around other people. Wearing a homemade fabric face mask, for example, is to protect people around you if you are infected but do not have symptoms of COVID-19.  #INthistogether #StayHome

  1. Is there any possible way they could give us more information, the places they have been, the places they shopped at?

  2. Incredulous. With no mention whatsoever of or if the sum of “some” of the hospital workers reported as testing positive yesterday…if these additional two infections are those, or just some of “some” of those, or not. If not, or just some of them, then we have no idea, really, without any clarification, if the total positive cases is now actually nine – or maybe it’s 19, 29, etc. Between the health dept and the hospital heads – not the rank/file healthcare heroes on these front lines – they need to be more forthcoming and transparent with information and timing, given such circumstances.

  3. I know we all want to know. But there are laws that are set to protect those who are ill. It appears that the officials are attempting to contact those of us who may have been in contact with the folks that have been found to be positive. It is scary when we don’t know. The best thing to do. Protect yourself and those around you that you come in contact with. That is our personal part in getting through this night mare.

  4. What if there wasn’t a HIPPA law, what do you think would happen?

What happened when everyone learned about the Coronavirus?

I don’t have the virus. But if I did, without my health information being protected anyone could release to the public that I have it.

Anyone who had been in contact with me would be in a panic fearing they had the virus.
Think about this. In the beginning our Government gave us a short time frame for the stay at home order. He said it could be extended if needed. Each time he said this.
What would have happened if he said from the beginning that the order would be for 3 or 4 months? I believe more people would have had a problem with it and rebelled against the order.

Maybe our Government was doing the right thing (IN THIS AREA) by allowing us to get used to the change.
My comment in no way supports anyone’s opinion regarding the transparency or non-transparency of the number of COVID-19 cases in Dubois county.
