The vast majority of 14,023 votes cast in the midterm went for Republican candidates in Dubois County.

Every locally contested seat started with a Republican lead and stayed that way by the time the last vote was tallied Tuesday evening.

By the end of the evening, 46.08 percent of registered Dubois County voters had turned in their choices. In comparison, the 2018 midterm election saw 57.81 percent of registered Dubois County voters report to the polls.

The two contested school board positions on the Greater Jasper Consolidated School Corporation saw the incumbents losing to challengers, Steve Lukemeyer and Judy Englert. In Southeast Dubois County School Corporation, Elaine Miller retained her seat against challenger Mike Cronin.

The results are below the photos.

This was the first year for the Clem and Mary Lange YMCA in Ferdinand to be used as a voting center.
Poll worker Don Foerster helped a voter sign in Tuesday afternoon at the Huntingburg Event Center.
Josie Marx, 5, of Ferdinand, read her Pokemon book while her mom, Kristen Bree, voted at the Thyen-Clark Culture Center Tuesday afternoon. Kristen said Josie had a violin lesson in Jasper so they took advantage of the ability to vote at any vote center in the county to cast their vote before the close of the polls.
The Jasper Public Library provided golf cart rides to assist voters from their vehicles to the atrium and back during voting Tuesday. Library employee Vernita Lucchi was one of several volunteers from the library who signed up to help.

  1. I did not see any results on the Sheriffs race. Was it not on the ballot this year ?

    1. It wasn’t contested. In the document at the end of the story are all the results. Randy Boehm, Lee Bilderback and Lisa Matthews were elected to the Cass Township board.

  2. Forgive me, I guess I said something too offensive the first time around. Let me try again.

“Amazing. If you are Messmer and Lindauer, why wouldn’t you just try to grift as much money as possible. They have both backed a plan to bulldoze their own constituents homes in the area and the managed to gain more votes then their last contested elections? What is their appeal over literally anyone else? How much can they really get away with before they dip under 60% of the vote count.”

There. If people have the freedom of speech to personally call me mentally ill, wish that my whole family dies of covid, or send death threats to me, maybe the Dubois County Free Press will allow me to criticize local politicians and the community at large for their lack of foresight? Probably not.

Since my comments getting approved is basically a coin flip now, I’ve taken the liberty of putting my real God’s honest email address as required instead of the long dead email I’ve used before. Feel free to tell me why I am such a scourge on the community as opposed to people who try to stage fights outside of St. Joseph’s Church. I’m eager to hear a response of why I am so scary that I must be censored compared to the rest of your readership.
