Dennis A. Sermersheim, 89

Dennis A. Sermersheim, 89, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

Dennis was born on November 17, 1925 in Jasper Indiana to Cornelius and Clara (Bachman) Sermersheim. He married Pauline E. “Sis” Goodman on May 25, 1950. She preceded him in death on April 23, 2014.

ennis was a cabinet maker who retired from Indiana Furniture Industries in 1989 after 30 years of service. He was an Army veteran and a member of the Jasper American Legion Post #147. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, and a former member of St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine. He was also a lifetime member of the Celestine Community Club.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and mowing his grass.

He is survived by one son, Kevin W. Sermersheim and his wife Nancy of Jasper; two granddaughters, Jamie Fleming and her husband Ryan of Jasper and Amber Sermersheim and her fiancé Brad Kramer of Huntingburg; one great grandson, Kasen Fleming of Jasper; one brother, Donald Sermersheim and his wife Joan of Rockport.

Preceding him in death beside his wife was one sister, Theresa Pfister, and one brother John Sermersheim.

Funeral services for Dennis Sermersheim will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with entombment to follow in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper, IN. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rites.

Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
