Death suspected to be from drowning

Update: Indiana Conservation Officers are conducting a death investigation in Dubois County.

Kenneth Gauker, 43, of Plainfield, was found by family members in the shallow part of a private pond north of Jasper near County Road 600 North.

An autopsy was conducted this morning at 9:00 am at the Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home.

Officers suspect Gauker drowned.

Responding agencies included the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department, Jasper Memorial EMS, Haysville First Responders, Haysville Fire Department, The Dubois County Coroner and Indiana Conservation Officers.

It is not known at this time how or why Gauker entered the water, but no foul play is expected.

Original: Deputies don’t suspect any foul play in the investigation of a man found deceased on a property about two miles north of Jasper on Wednesday.

According to authorities, Dubois County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the 200 block of West County Road 600 North for the report of a deceased male discovered at about 6:18 p.m.

The man had been discovered by residents of the property near a lake on the property. According to reports, the man was obviously deceased when he was found.

The investigation is ongoing and is pending an autopsy and toxicology testing. The death is not believed to be criminal in nature and no foul play is suspected at this time.

Authorities are withholding the man’s identity until all family members are notified.

Haysville First Responders, Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services, Indiana Conservation Officers, Dubois County Coroner’s and Becher & Kluesner Funderal Home assisted at the scene.
