Contacts with COVID-19 patient identified, notified

The Dubois County Health Department reported the close contacts of the individual diagnosed with COVID-19 have been identified and notified of their potential exposure.

Indiana Department of Health announced March 22 the first positive case of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Dubois County.

All preliminary close contacts of the patient have been IDENTIFIED and NOTIFIED by the Dubois County Health Department by end of day March 22. 

At this time if you have not been notified by the DCHD, then you have not been identified as a close contact. The following categories are a definition of close contact:

1. Living in the same household while the person was symptomatic
2. Caring for a person with COVID-19 while the person was symptomatic.
3. Being within 6 feet of a person for about 10 minutes or longer while the person was symptomatic
4. Being in direct contact with respiratory secretions from a person with COVID-19 while the person was symptomatic (e.g., being coughed on, kissing, sharing utensils, etc.)

We cannot stress enough the importance for all ages, the young and old, to do their part, said the health department. In order to protect yourself, your families, and fellow community members, we urge you to take this seriously. STAY HOME, PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING and GOOD HYGIENE as directed by our governor, Eric J. Holcomb.
