Community Corrections director steps down

The Dubois County Community Corrections director, J.P. Weisheit, announced he would be stepping down from his position.

Weisheit made the announcement during the five-minute public meeting of the Community Corrections Board Tuesday after a nearly 3-hour executive meeting that was closed to the public.

Weisheit accepted a position as a corrections officer.

The board approved the resignation and new assignment.

Assistant community corrections director Jenny Fuhs will step up as the interim director of the financially beleaguered community corrections center until a permanent replacement can be hired.

After the Fuhs’ appointment was approved, Weisheit stated he would be supportive of Fuhs as interim director and “help her in any way she needs as interim director. I’ll give her my full support.”
