Church distributing Blessed Palms this Saturday
Saint Joseph Parish in Jasper announced the Diocese has authorized distribution of Blessed Palms in anticipation of Palm Sunday, with limited restrictions.
Distribution will be Saturday, April 4 from 8:00 a.m. till 7:00 p.m. or till all palms are distributed, whichever is earlier. The distribution will take place in the north parking lot at the corner of Newton and West Thirteenth Street. Please use the entrance near the rectory.
Long a part of many families’ traditions, palms are an important reminder of the story that symbolizes Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem that we celebrate on Palm Sunday.
The opportunities of Confession will also be offered Saturday starting at 11:00 a.m. in the church. Please maintain a 6-foot distance from the person nearest you while in church. At 3:00 p.m. bells will toll as an invitation to pray. If you are in the area please pull into the parking lot, stay in your vehicle, and unite in prayer. May God bless you and all you love during the coming Holy Week.

AMEN!
And to that I would add…PLEASE do not attend if you are showing any symptoms of coronavirus, or have been exposed to anyone who is showing signs of respiratory illness such as cough, fever, shortness of breath. This is such an important time of year for Christians, but we all need to keep in mind the seriousness of the pandemic that is spreading throughout the State of Indiana and the rest of the nation right now. As reported this morning, Dubois County’s 4th confirmed case of Covid-19 involves a parishioner of St. Celestine church who attended Mass on March 15. We do not yet know how many other worshippers may be infected.
God’s blessings to all. Stay safe and please help ensure the safety of others in our community.
Please do not offer palms… these aren’t essential!!!! You all need to stay home and pray.
Totally unnecessary gathering. What is it about the Governor’s “STAY AT HOME” proclamation that your church does not understand or feel compelled to comply with? Do you not comprehend what asymptomatic means? Your “traditions” can wait until next year. There is absolutely no reason to put people’s lives at risk for a piece of palm tree.
