Carol M. Herbig, 86, Ireland

Carol M. Herbig, 86, of Ireland, passed away at 3:35 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2020, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. 

Carol was born in Champagne, Illinois, on September 14, 1933, to Hubert and Eleanor (Blessinger) Wagner. She married Robert Herbig on August 9, 1955, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2013. 

She co-owned Bob and Carol’s Catering with her husband for over 25 years. She was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana and the St. Anne’s Society. Carol enjoyed quilting, playing cards, bingo, and watching IU basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals. 

She is survived by one daughter, Sherri (Brian) Patton of Jasper; one son, Tim (Carol A.) Herbig of Ireland; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Rosie Renner.

Preceding her in death besides her husband were five brothers, Victor, Robert, Linus, Jerry, and Thomas Wagner, and two sisters, Francis Haley and Donna Mehringer.

Private funeral services for Carol M. Herbig will be held at the Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home in Jasper, Indiana with burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Ireland, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Dubois County Humane Society, or to a favorite charity.
