Bretzville roundabout construction restricting traffic

As the Indiana Department of Transportation begins work on the roundabout at the intersection of State Road 64 and 162, the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office issued a warning to motorists.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office is asking all motorists traveling through the Bretzville Junction area to exercise caution and remain patient as roadway construction continues. Work is expected to continue until October.
It is also important to note that the intersection will be closed July 30th through August 3rd.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow additional travel time by leaving approximately 15 minutes earlier than usual. Planning ahead can help reduce the temptation to speed or make unsafe driving decisions when encountering construction-related delays.
Motorists who choose to use back roads as alternate routes are reminded to remain alert, obey all posted speed limits, and exercise extra caution, particularly if they are unfamiliar with those roads. Increased traffic on rural roads makes safe and attentive driving especially important.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office recognizes that the ongoing construction has created inconvenience and frustration for residents and travelers. However, the safety of everyone on our roadways remains our highest priority.
The Sheriff’s Office appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during this project and encourages all drivers to do their part to help keep our communities safe by driving responsibly and allowing extra time to reach their destinations.
