Recently there has been publicity and several articles about the problems of the Indiana Department of Child Services, including the resignation of the State Director. I’m sending this letter in an effort to educate the public about this serious problem in Indiana and especially in the five counties that compose Indiana House District 74 (Crawford,…
Sadly, the opioid crisis is costing Americans 65,000 lives a year, annually killing more than all the Americans in the Vietnam War. This crisis has actually led to life expectancy in the United States to be lower the last two years in a row. What is the cause? Take, for example, the McKesson Corporation, the…
I told this story to my grandson’s team down here in Lenoir City Tenn., just 13 miles south of Knoxville. They had almost the same record as the Wildcats. And when the district tournament began, they even made their motto before every tipoff “JASPER”. They did win the District AAAA, which is always one of…
The Republican Party is a voluntary association of people who share similar views of government and politics. These people may join together to recruit candidates, raise money, advocate on public issues, walk in parades, visit their neighbors to ask for and give information or work at the polls on Election Day. They may not do…
To get a better take on the matter of the Republican tax reform proposal, I watched CSPAN coverage of the financial committee instead of the usual Sunday football games. Some, if not most, politicians will do anything for…
I recently had discussions about what exactly does conservative and liberal mean in a political sense. We have varying interpretations, so as a political independent, I started to research the subject from various political viewpoints, right wing, left wing, democrat, republican and independent. My interest was based on what appears to be increasing hate speech…
Democracy is not a spectator sport. It takes involvement with the political process and government by all citizens to ensure the best results. Voting in each election is the most meaningful process to impact policies. With the 2018 mid-term elections about a year away, it is a good time to check one’s voter registration status….
The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution contains one sentence, the only subject of which is a “well regulated Militia.” Here it is: “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” The Second Amendment was adopted…
As Congress begins to debate tax reform, I am thankful for President Donald Trump’s attitude and desire to deliver tax reform for hardworking middle-class Americans. It was not long ago that President Barack Obama’s economic policies resulted in sluggish economic growth, fewer jobs, and higher rates of unemployment. The tax and regulatory policies of his…
