AT&T problems

The past two days has found many AT&T Wireless customers in Huntingburg quizzically peering at their phones while muttering “Do you have service” to anyone standing nearby. Huntingburg customers are getting frustrated as another day passes with what looks to be spotty cell service.

We were unable to get any answers about the issue but customers in the area that have reported problems were told the tower on Sixth Street in Huntingburg is having problems and may not be working properly until 5:30 p.m today.

  1. I just called ATT and there is an outage and it should be fixed by 5:30 p.m. The ticket no. TT000028231156 for the service call if you want to call ATT for updates. Every once and awhile I get a slew of texts and then try to reply and get no service message.

    1. OK – here's the scoop straight from AT&T engineers, who sent an e-mail to various retail outlets on Saturday – but which wasn't communicated to their 611 (repair) folks who were telling disgruntled callers that there wasn't any indication of an area problem – talk about poor internal communications in the left hand not knowing or telling what the right hand was doing. Geez. The AT&T engineers were reporting it was a problem with a local tower (part of) freezing at night and thawing about mid-day when temps rise – then freezing again the next night, etc. Apparently it was also indicated to only effect 3G and 4G phones – not older phones below 3G capabilities My nephew learned all this when he went to the Jasper AT&T store by K-Mart, along with a slew of other customers – the store employees let him and the others read the internal e-mail. The employees didn't know why it hadn't yet (at that time) been communicated to their phone repair operators.

      1. It was still out again this a.m., 11/7/11. I received text from
a Verizon customer, but could not text her back. This
was at 5:30 a.m. and was work related…very frustrating!
