Anetta “Net” Houchin, 94, Jasper
Anetta “Net” Houchin, 94, of Jasper, died February 21, 2020.
She was born April 12, 1925, in Huntingburg to Walter and Pearl (Spencer) Rice.
She was the beloved mother of Randalyn Clabaugh, Dubois and Jay E. Houchin, recently deceased; and mother-in-law to Carrie Houchin, Huntingburg. She had four granddaughters, Meghan (Derek) Hasson of Texas, Kelleyerin (Derek Cowan) Clabaugh of Hawaii, Margaret Houchin (Brad) Coomer of Jasper, and Lucy Rice Houchin of England, UK; and three great-grandchildren, John Casey Hasson, Jay Patrick Hasson, and Georgia Louise Coomer.
She was a volunteer for the first Family Hospice of Dubois County and a retiree of Memorial Hospital. Following her retirement at the hospital, she spent years working in the health care profession doing private home care. She completed a multi-decade clinical study done by Nurses of Preventive Medicine for Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
A private celebration of life and burial at Dale Cemetery will be held at a later date. There will be no viewing. Memorial contributions can be made to the Dubois County Community Foundation’s Jay E. Houchin Scholarship Fund. Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg has been entrusted with the burial arrangements.
