Active shooter training offered through state police
The video above is a recording of a live streamed active shooter drill held at Jasper Middle School.
From schools to movie theaters to corporate offices, the number of tragic active shooter events has increased across the United States at an alarming rate.
For several years the Indiana State Police has been devoted to giving presentations and information in Indiana schools to educate school administrators and teachers on ways they can protect our children and themselves, should the unthinkable happen.
In recent months, the ISP has updated and evolved the training program to now offer it to individuals and businesses.

Presentation materials and learning aids, as well as videos, have been specifically developed for corporate environments, schools, school buses, and individuals.
The resources are free and available online at www.in.gov/isp/3191.htm.
Businesses, corporations, civic organizations, or schools wishing to have materials presented to them in their facilities can also schedule that with the State Police.
Troopers throughout the state are trained in the program and materials, and are willing to present the program to your group.
For more information on scheduling a program in Southern Indiana, you can contact Sergeant Philip Hensley with the Jasper Post by calling 812-634-5520.
The hope of the Indiana State Police is that none of us are ever faced with testing our preparedness during an active shooter event. Having knowledge of how to protect yourself or someone around you will give a better chance of getting through the event.
State Police want you to know they are committed to providing citizens with that information.

If the ISP are indeed committed to people having information on how to protect themselves and others around them, then they will include a recommendation for those who are comfortable, willing and qualified to do so, to obtain a concealed carry gun permit, become trained and familiar with their weapon(s) of choice – and arm themselves however, whenever and wherever lawful.
