8th District National Delegates and Presidential Elector named
Regional Republican Party leaders met this past Saturday to elect Delegates and Alternates to the Republican National Convention to be held in Cleveland, Ohio July 18-21.
The Indiana Delegation to the 2016 Convention will have fifty-seven delegates and fifty-four alternates.
Each of Indiana’s nine congressional committees held a caucus on April 9th to select three congressional delegates and three alternate delegates to represent their districts. The Republican State Committee will meet on April 13th to elect twenty-four at large delegates and alternate delegates.
The Republican State Party Chairman, the Republican National Committeeman and Republican National Committeewoman are automatic delegates who do not have alternates.
National delegates and alternates elected either by congressional district or at large, are bound on the first ballot at the Republican National Convention to vote for the presidential candidate who received the highest number of votes in the district or state.
The delegates elected to represent the 8th District and their alternates are: Rick Martin, 8th District Chairman (Wayne Parke, Vanderburgh County Chairman); Brenda Goff, 8th District Vice-Chairman (Mark Flint, Pike County Chairman); and, Bill Springer, Sullivan County Chairman (State Senator Eric Bassler).
The 8th Congressional Committee also selected one Presidential Elector and one Alternate Elector. The Presidential Elector is Don Hayes, Dubois County Chairman. The Alternate Elector is Grant Swartzentruber of Daviess County. Additionally, two Presidential Electors and Alternate Electors will be elected by the State Committee on April 13th.
Following the 2016 General Election, the party that wins the Presidential election will have their Electors meet to cast their electoral vote for President and Vice President of the United States.
That vote takes place in the Chamber of the Indiana House of Representatives on the first Monday, after the second Wednesday in December (December 19, 2016) as provided by Federal law, to elect the President and Vice President of the United States.

How many do you think are “anyone but Trump” people? I would hazard to guess that number would almost universally be 100%! The establishment are terrified of an someone who is an outsider if you will.
Now I’m not saying that Trump would be our best choice but, “Anyone but the status quo establishment”!!! Most of these people are there only to get wealthy either through shady deals or by providing “quid pro quo’s” with big business and getting those high paying consulting fees or paid speeches when they leave office.
Our country cannot continue on this path of by the rich, for the rich. We cannot elect people who are willing to sacrifice morals and ethics just to garner those votes. We need people who are willing to forgo political correctness to do what is really needed to get us back on the right track again.
