81 new Covid-19 cases over the weekend

Monday, the Dubois County Health Department reported 81 new positive cases of novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in Dubois County.

The estimated breakdown of the cases is 57 positives reported on Saturday; 11 on Sunday; and 13 as of 8 a.m. Monday morning.

That brings the total to 1,206 positive cases of COVID-19 in Dubois County residents. Of the 1,206 cases, 926 have reportedly recovered and 21 residents have died. The health department also reported 9,055 residents have been tested.

Additionally, the health department reported on a testing situation that occured on October 1 and October 2.

To set the record straight, the Dubois County Health Department wanted to let the public and those waiting on their Covid-19 test results from October 1 and October 2 know exactly what happened.  The cooler containing all those tests was picked up by a state-hired courier at 5:00 p.m. By the time the cooler made it to the lab, it had closed. 

The cooler was then taken to the courier’s warehouse for proper storage.  The next morning, the cooler was picked up and then taken to the wrong lab. 

After many phone calls with the courier, the lab and Indiana State Department of Health, the cooler was finally located. Most of the samples have been run and results should have been sent to the individuals effected. 

Although this misfortune was beyond our control, we are truly sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, the health department stated in a press release.

For individuals who use the County Covid-19 testing site in the future, there are a few things you should be aware of.  Most results should be available in approximately 3 to 4 business days (this does not include weekends or holidays). 

Your results should come to you by a phone call or text message, please answer the call when it comes. The ISDH is behind on both results notification and contact tracing, so please stay home if you are sick to help slow the increasing spread. If 72 hours have passed, please contact the ISDH for information about your results at 1-877-826-0011.   

Due the overwhelming workload and call volume the Dubois County Health Department has been experiencing, we are asking anyone who has been tested positive for Covid-19 to please contact their employer or school IMMEDIATELY.  We have been doing our best to notify businesses with this information but cannot guarantee this will happen in a timely manner if this trend continues.

ACTUALIZADO: COVID-19 Informe de situación y orientación

Al 12 de octubre, a las 11 a.m., hay 81 nuevos casos positivos de nuevo coronavirus (COVID-19) para informar. Eso eleva el total a 1206 casos positivos de COVID-19 en los residentes del condado de Dubois.

Para dejar las cosas claras, el Departamento de Salud del Condado de Dubois quería que el público y aquellos que esperaban los resultados de la prueba Covid-19 del 1 y 2 de octubre supieran exactamente lo que sucedió. Un mensajero contratado por el Estado recogió la hielera que contenía todas esas pruebas a las 5:00 pm. Cuando la nevera llegó al laboratorio, ya estaban cerrados. Luego, la nevera se llevó al almacén del mensajero para su almacenamiento adecuado. A la mañana siguiente, recogieron la nevera y la llevaron al laboratorio equivocado. Después de muchas llamadas telefónicas con el mensajero, el laboratorio y el ISDH finalmente se localizó el refrigerador. La mayoría de las muestras se han analizado y los resultados deberían haberse enviado a las personas afectadas. Aunque esta desgracia estuvo fuera de nuestro control, lamentamos sinceramente cualquier inconveniente que esto pueda ocasionar.

Para las personas que utilicen el sitio de pruebas del condado de Covid-19 en el futuro, hay algunas cosas que deben tener en cuenta. La mayoría de los resultados deben estar disponibles en aproximadamente 3-4 días hábiles (esto no incluye fines de semana ni feriados). Los resultados deben llegar a usted mediante una llamada telefónica o un mensaje de texto, por favor responda la llamada cuando llegue. El ISDH está retrasado tanto en la notificación de resultados como en el rastreo de contactos, así que quédese en casa si está enfermo para ayudar a frenar el aumento de la propagación. Si han pasado 72 horas, comuníquese con ISDH para obtener información sobre sus resultados al 1-877-826-0011.
