18-year-old killed in head-on collision

An 18-year-old Dubois resident was killed in a head-on collision Friday morning on Jasper-Dubois Road.

According to state police, Corbyn Musick, 17, of Dubois, was driving a Kia Soul northeast on the Jasper-Dubois Road about 3.5 miles north of State Road 164 at about 11 a.m. when an oncoming 2007 Audi A4 crossed the centerline. The vehicles struck near the edge of the northeast bound lane, police said.

Both vehicles came to rest off the edge of the roadway just a few feet from the impact point, according to state police.

Landon Mattingly, 18, of Dubois, was driving the Audi. He was transported to Memorial Hospital by ambulance where he was later pronounced deceased.

Musick was taken to Memorial Hospital by ambulance before being transferred by helicopter to St. Vincent in Evansville. He remains in critical condition and is undergoing surgery, according to police.

Police have not determined why the Audi crossed the centerline.

Both teens are students at Northeast Dubois.

All notifications have been made.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office, Dubois Volunteer Fire Department and Dubois County Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene.

  1. My wife works at Dubois Middle School both her and I are both saddened by his loss and give our deepest sorrow and sympathy to his family

  2. Condolences to both families. Prayer not only for the families but for all the students effected by this. My granddaughter went to school with both young men and is having a hard time with this. The lord will wrap his arms around all the people affected during this dark and sad time
