Zelma Ann Abell, 91

Zelma Ann Abell, 91, of Birdseye, passed away at 8:35 a.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at The Waters of Jasper nursing center in Jasper.
She was born March 13, 1923 near Birdseye, Indiana, to Gabriel and Bessie (Wright) Choate.
Zelma was a homemaker, member of the Birdseye Christian Church, and enjoyed quilting.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, A.H. Merk Abell; one son, Lee Roy Abell; two brothers, Elba Choate and Meyers Choate; one half-brother, Bert Choate; and two sisters, Delores Deel and Rose Mary Coble.
She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Rose Marie Kemp of Bloomfield, Ind., and Delores (Kevin) Cooper of Birdseye; two brothers, Allen Boyd Choate of Clearlake Oaks, Cal., and John Choate of Lebanon, Ind.; one sister, Lora Jean Parker of Beech Grove, Ind.; and three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Graveside services and interment for Zelma Ann Abell will be held at 4:00 p.m., EDT, on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Mentor Cemetery near Birdseye. The Reverend Ron Hickman will officiate at the service.
