Wynonia Eck, 84

Wynonia Eck, 84, of Boone Township, Indiana, passed away at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at home.
Wynonia was born on December 18, 1929 in Washington, Indiana to Lawrence and Scherlottie (Allen) Schnarr. She married Chris Eck on June 4, 1950 in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boone Township, Dubois County. He preceded her in death on November 6, 2004.
She graduated from the Alfordsville High School class of 1948 as the class valedictorian.
She worked at the Daviess County Surveyors Office, General Electric in Huntingburg, as a cook at the Caper House and the Gas Light in Huntingburg, and on the family farm.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by one son, Gary Eck and his wife Marlene, of Boone Township; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Cledamae Kuckuck and her husband David, of Tampa, Fla., Marilyn Witter and husband Duane, of Newaygo, Mich., Brenda Witt of Washington, and Arlene Wininger and her husband Richard, of Montgomery; four brothers, Carmin Schnarr and his wife Sylvia, of Washington, Gilbert Schnarr and his wife Carolyn, of Glendale, John Schnarr and his wife Janis, of Jasper, and Michael Schnarr and his wife Betty, of Washington.
Preceding her in death beside her husband was an infant brother, Delbert Schnarr, a daughter-in-law Nancy Eck, and her stepmother, Beatrice Schnarr.
Funeral services for Wynonia Eck will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2014, at St. John’s Luthern Church in Boone Township, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner North Side Chapel in Jasper and one hour before the service at church on Friday.
