Women Empowing Women meeting to cover teen dating violence

The Dubois County women’s leadership organization, Women Empowering Women (WEW), will gather on Wednesday, February 12 to hear Paula Rasche, Executive Director of Crisis Connection Inc, present on the topic “Teen Dating Violence.”

The February session will be held at the St. Joseph Church Parish Center, 1029 Kundek Street in Jasper. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. for networking before the meeting begins at 11:45 a.m.  This event is open to all prospective and current WEW members.

February is National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. Nationwide youth ages 12 to 19 experience the highest rate of sexual assault. However, Hoosier teens report higher instances of physical and sexual violence than kids throughout the country. These and other factors make it important that the community become engaged and participate in addressing these issues.

Crisis Connection Inc. presenters will provide insight into Dating Violence, how to identify those that may be struggling with an unhealthy or dangerous relationship, and how to effectively and safely support them. Presenting for the group will be Crisis Connection Inc. Executive Director Paula Rasche and Child Advocate/Advocacy Coordinator, Brooke Sanders.

Advanced reservations for the luncheon are required for members and guests. Reservations should be made by calling the Jasper Chamber of Commerce at 812-482-6866 or by emailing chamber@jasperin.org by Friday, February 7. The cost for lunch is $5.00 per person and is payable at the door.

The mission of Women Empowering Women is to inspire women in business to reach their highest potential by instilling confidence, building networks, and promoting community in Dubois County. Membership is open to any woman in business who lives or works in Dubois County.
