Woman charged in home hit-and-run in hospital with injuries
Haysville — A Jasper woman was arrested Sunday morning after she crashed her car into a house in Haysville and then left the scene.
According to deputies, Bethelyn K. Morris of West Haysville Road, Jasper, was eastbound on Haysville Road West in a 2013 Dodge Journey when she crossed U.S. 231 and then turned south into the Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church parking lot. Morris continued across the parking lot and ran into a residence belonging to Charles Nehmer at 7263 N. U.S. 231. The collision damaged the home’s foundation, according to police.
Morris then left the scene and headed south on U.S. 231 until she pulled partially off the highway at 7067 N. U.S. 231 and stopped. Then, for unknown reasons, Morris suddenly backed up the southbound lane of U.S. 231 and went off the highway through a large ditch before stopping in the home’s yard. The yard was damaged by her driving.
>Morris was transported to Memorial Hospital in Jasper to be treated for her injuries which were reported to be broken ribs. She was later transferred to an Evansville hospital.
The Haysville Volunteer Fire Department, Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services and a Uebelhor & Sons wrecker assisted.
