WITZ Radio Personality Karen Dorrell passes away

WITZ Radio has lost another family member. At 7:05 a.m. on Sunday morning, Karen Dorrell passed away after losing her fight against cancer.

Karen joined the WITZ family in December of 1979. She met her husband Dean (often known as ‘Abe Lincoln’) when they performed together in the play ‘Arsenic and Old Lace.’

They got married and lived at West Boggs before buying their house in Washington.

She was active in local theater and along with Dean, helped read the honor roll list when luminaries were purchased at the Daviess County Relay for Life.

We received many calls and emails at the station asking about Karen and we asked everyone to pray for her as she battled cancer.

Today the fighting is finished. She’s resting peacefully with no more pain.

There will be no visitation or services at this time. However, a celebration of life is being planned at a later date.

Karen, you will definitely be missed by all of your listeners and your friends and family here at WITZ.
