Winifred (Winnie) Emmons, 89, passed away February 8th at Scenic Hills Care Center of Ferdinand.

Winnie was born in Lamar, Indiana on August 29, 1929, to Edith ( Connor ) and Fred  Southwood.

She graduated from Dale High Scholl in 1947. She was united to William Emmons in marriage on July 14th, 1948. They were married for 67 years. Winnie worked for the former Santa Claus Land and Holiday World for a total of 50 years. She managed the former dining room for 14 years and was Mrs. Claus in the Cookie and Fudge Shop for another 14 years. She finished her career there in merchandising retiring in 2005. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Christian Church. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, taking many bus trips seeing all but one of the United States; Hawaii. Camping at Lincoln Park was a great part of their life. She loved having a dog in her life and enjoyed walking with them  Along with her husband she was a huge St. Louis Cardinal’s fan. Hobbies she spent time on were crocheting and working crossword puzzles.

She was preceded death by her husband Bill.

Surviving are a daughter Pamela (Jerry, deceased) of Lamar; sons, Gerald ( Vera ) Emmons of Dale and Rick (Becky) Emmons of Ferdinand; three grandchildren, Amy (Scott) Waninger of Indianapolis, Erin (Steve) Parker of Tell City and Ben ( Dana) Thompson of Mooresville and eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Spencer County Humane Society, or the Mt. Zion Christian Church of Santa Claus.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 11, 2018, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. CST at Fuller Funeral Home, Dale.

Funeral Service will be for Monday, February 12, 2018, at 10 a.m. CST at Fuller Funeral Home of Dale. With burial to follow.
