Wilma Joan Satterfield, 89, Velpen

Wilma Joan Satterfield, 89, of Velpen, passed away at 1:42 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2020, in Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. 

Wilma was born on October 26, 1930, in Pike County, Indiana, to Andrew and Edith (Traylor) Brittain. She married Vershel von Satterfield on September 10, 1953, in Winslow, Indiana. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2008. 

Wilma was a stay at home wife and mother for many years and was later employed as a CNA at the Northwood Retirement Community for 25 years. She was very family-oriented and had unconditional love for her children. She enjoyed birdwatching, growing flowers and plants,  yard sales with her daughter and taking family pictures.

She is survived by three children, Wendell W. (Cheryl) Satterfield of Ireland, Inez K. Faith of Winslow, and John Scott (Tona) Satterfield of Velpen; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. 

Preceding her in death besides her husband, is one son, Terry Satterfield, three sisters, Imogene Capehart, Joyce Satterfield, and an infant, Virginia Rose Brittain, and two brothers, Waldo and Robert Brittain. 

A service for Wilma Joan Satterfield will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Beadles Cemetery in Velpen, Indiana.  Rev. John Manges will officiate.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
