William A. “Whitey” Nordhoff, 75, of Jasper

William A. “Whitey” Nordhoff, 75, of Jasper, passed away at 6:18 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville.
Whitey was born in Evansville, Indiana on July 17, 1941, to Clemence A. and Mary June (Cave) Nordhoff. He married Carmen Joan Hendrixson on November 16, 1961, in Our Lady of Springs Catholic Church in French Lick, Indiana.
He was a 1959 graduate of Loogootee Saint John’s High School.
He worked as a Distribution Engineer for the City of Jasper for 45 years.
Whitey was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper and the Jasper Lions Club, where he was past president and was instrumental in the development of the Lions Club Riverside Park.
He enjoyed drawing, traveling, and was an avid sports fan, and especially liked watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
Surviving are his wife, Carmen Joan Nordhoff of Jasper; three children, Larry Nordhoff and wife Jenny, Sara Lindeman and husband David and Rob Nordhoff and wife Jill, all of Jasper; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Patty Henke and husband Allen of Jasper; one brother, Tom Nordhoff and wife Deb of Jasper
A Mass of Christian Burial for William A. “Whitey” Nordhoff will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Enlow Cemetery in Jasper.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana. St. Joseph’s Parish will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
