William Ray Caldemeyer, 60, Stendal

William Ray Caldemeyer, 60, of Stendal, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026, at Deaconess Memorial Hospital in Jasper. 

He was born July 26, 1965, to Norman and Betty (Blount) Caldemeyer in Huntingburg.

He married Jolene Sue Sattler on December 12, 1987, at the Holland UMC. 

A 1981 graduate of Pike Central High School. He worked in masonry for 35 years. He worked for Tile Terrazo Bricklayer Local 4 and for Bunge Mason.

William was a lifelong active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Stendal. 

William had a deep appreciation for classic Ford trucks and especially cherished his 1954 Coral Ford F-100. He spent countless hours restoring, traveling, and creating memories in his classic truck. His dedication and enthusiasm were recognized with numerous awards, including the “Children’s Choice Award.” 

He loved spending time with family and having game nights; he especially loved playing Rook. He enjoyed trips with the love of his life, Jolene and hiking in one of their favorite vacation spots, Gatlinburg, Tenn. 

He loved giving back to the community of Stendal. He was a leader in the community club. He was the founder and builder of the Stendal sign. He served on the Lockhart Township Volunteer Fire Department and the advisory board. He enjoyed making Halloween costumes while volunteering at the community Halloween party. He also helped start the Tin Fest Auto Show. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Betty; brother, Garry; sister, Sharron Roettger, and brother-in-law, Rodney Dixon 

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jolene; siblings, Brenda (Jerry) Houchins, Larry (Denise) Caldemeyer, and Karen Dixon; brother-in-law, James Roettger; sisters-in-law, Karen Caldemeyer, Rita (Mark) Williams, and Kutina (Albert) Kline; and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services for William Ray Caldemeyer will be held at 12:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Stendal. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Stendal. Pastor John Beasley will officiate the service. 

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, prior to the service at the church.
