William F. Jochim, 92

William F. Jochim, 92, of Mariah Hill, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand.

William was born January 7, 1921 to John and Frances (Hollander) Jochim at Mariah Hill.

He married Roberta Handschiegl on October 21, 1950 at Mary Help of Christians Church in Mariah Hill. William was retired from Traylor Brothers in Evansville.

William is survived by his wife, Roberta; two sons, Stan (LeAnn) Jochim of Mariah Hill and Sam Jochim of Mariah Hill; one daughter, Sandy Dilger of Dale; five grandchildren; one step grandchild and six great-grandchildren. William was preceded in death by two brothers, James Jochim and Louis Jochim; one great grandchild, Isaac G. Miller.

William was a WW II Veteran, serving as an Aviation Machinists 2nd Class. William was a member of the Santa Claus American Legion Post 242, St. Vincent Depaul Society, Mariah Hill Conservation Club and Mariah Hill YMI. He was a manager of the Mariah Hill Yankees for 20 years. William was an avid New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox Fan. He also enjoyed Heritage Hills sports.

Visitation will be Friday from 3-8:00 PM CST at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand, and from 9-10:00 AM CST Saturday at Mary Help of Christians Church in Mariah Hill. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:00 AM CST with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Military graveside rights will be performed by Santa Claus American Legion Post 242.
