William C. “Bill” Wahl, age 79, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 6:07 p.m., Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

He was born May 19, 1934 in Dale, Indiana to William J. and Elenora (Braunecker) Wahl. He married Linda (Lottes) Harris on July 1, 1989 in Huntingburg and then took ecumenical marriage vows on July 15, 1989 at the Glezen Revival Center in Glezen, Indiana.

Bill worked as a patrolman for 12 years with the Huntingburg Police Department, was a general contractor/painter for the Koch family at Holiday World, worked as a security guard at the Holiday Inn in Jasper, and was a greeter at the Jasper Wal-Mart store.

He loved going to yard sales and was an outgoing, gregarious person.

He was preceded in death by one son, Doug Wahl; his parents; four brothers, Hilbert, Linus, Elmer and Walter Wahl; and three sisters, Marie Theile, Clara Taylor, and Nora Fischer.

He is survived by his wife, Linda L. Wahl of Huntingburg; one daughter, Debbie Arthur of Irving, TX; three sons, Jerry (Anita) Wahl of Grape Vine, TX, Randy Wahl of Hickory Creek, TX, and Scott (Janice) Wahl of Hurst, TX; two step-daughters, Vicki (Larry) Hasenour of Louisville, KY, and Deneen (Rick) Bender of Huntingburg; two sisters, Helen Buckallew and Lucille “Susie” Strube both of Indianapolis, IN; five grandchildren, Troy, Cara, Kyle, Tyler and Emily Wahl; two step grandchildren, Jade (Andy) Burnett of Springfield, VA and Megan (Andy) Brick of Denver, CO; and one step-great-grandchild.

Funeral services for William C. “Bill” Wahl will be held at 2:00 pm, E.D.T., on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. Pastor Paul Newland will officiate the services.
