Willa “Jean” DeWitt, 92, Mooresville
Willa “Jean” DeWitt, 92, of Mooresville, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Meadow Lakes Assisted Living in Mooresville.

She was born March 28, 1931, in Huntingburg to Leo and Gertrude (Harris) Bernardi.
Jean worked as a secretary and teacher’s aide at Birdseye High School and Pine Ridge Elementary School and as a staff member at Patoka Lake’s main entrance gate. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Mooresville.
She enjoyed baking, flower gardening, listening to music, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Jean was preceded in death by her first husband, Herb McKinney; second husband, Virgil “Harold” DeWitt; children, Alan McKinney and Vicki Vonderheide; son-in-law, Jeff Vonderheide; step-children, Roger DeWitt, Karen Harris and Sheryl Cherry; siblings, Leta Gunselman, Margaret Renner, Robert, Donald, Jerry and Lowell Bernardi; and grandsons, Seth Vonderheide and Sean McKinney.
She is survived by four granddaughters, Angie (Josh) Myers, Erika (Kevin) Gehlhausen, Sarah (Jason) Felker and Clara (Eric Tretter) Vonderheide; two stepsons, Tim (Sheri) DeWitt and Michael (Kathy) DeWitt; eight step-grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Jean DeWitt will be held at 2:00 p.m. EDT on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg, with burial to follow at Birdseye Cemetery in Birdseye, Indiana.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday.
