Will Read and Sing for Food special show to benefit abused children

Will Read and Sing For Food (WRASFF) will hold a very special show to benefit the Southwestern Indiana Child Advocacy Center Coalition (SWICACC), based in Jasper, at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, at Klub Haus 61.

Special musical guest is singer-songwriter Jason Wilber, who sings and plays guitar for the legendary John Prine. Touring with Prine for many years, Wilber has played on every prominent stage imaginable—Carnegie Hall, London Palladium, Red Rocks, the Ryman, and appears on Prine’s Grammy award-winning album and two other Grammy nominated albums. Wilber’s new CD, Echoes, will be released in April.

Special guest motivational speaker is Jenna Quinn, a triumphant survivor of sexual abuse and a valiant warrior against sexual abuse of children and adolescents. A poised and charismatic speaker with a Masters Degree in Communications, Jenna has traveled the country making speeches to law-enforcement and abuse-prevention groups. Her namesake bill, “Jenna’s Law,” passed the Texas senate, making it the first child abuse prevention law in the U.S mandating K-12 trainings for students, all school staff, and parents. “Jenna’s Law” addresses sexual abuse and other forms of maltreatment.

Three other guests are singer-songwriters Andrea Wirth (Evansville) and Daniel Market (Muscle Shoals, Ala.) and writer Jon Webb, who is metro editor and columnist for the Evansville Courier.

Regular WRASFF players in this show include Scott Saalman, Debbie Schuetter and Kyle Lueken.

SWICACC, directed by Tammy Lampert, is a non-profit agency that provides a safe reporting location for victims of crime and their families. It provides forensic interviewing services to children reporting abuse in 7 counties, including Dubois, Crawford, Daviess, Martin, Orange, Perry, and Spencer.

Since opening its doors in 2009, it has provided services to over 1,000 children of abuse.
Admission is a $10 or more donation to SWICACC. The artists will be selling and signing their music after the show.
