Wilfred “Wif” H. Reckelhoff, 84

Wilfred “Wif” H. Reckelhoff, 84, of Jasper, passed away at 5:40 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014, at the Providence Home Health Care Center in Jasper.

Wif was born on September 12, 1929 in Jasper, IN to August and Mary (Brang) Reckelhoff. He married Mildred Frick, his wife of 64 years, on June 17, 1950 in St. Mary’s Church in Huntingburg, IN.

Wif worked as a small engine mechanic for Ruxer’s Brothers, Sten’s Lawn and Garden, and retired from Tom’s Lawn and Garden.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, and the Ireland Historical Society.

He was accomplished musician and played steel guitar in several country and western bands over the years. He enjoyed traveling, music, fishing, watching car racing, and had a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Reckelhoff of Jasper; three daughters, Helena Dettmer and her husband Terry Stone, of Coralville, Iowa, Elizabeth Williams and her husband Edward, of Indianapolis, and Donna Reckelhoff and her husband Erik Wiehardt, Kendall Park, N.J.; one son, Carl Reckelhoff and his wife Judy Brohm, of New Albany; six grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren, one great-grandchild, and 10 step-great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death is his son Michael Reckelhoff, son Joseph and daughter Patricia, both of whom died in infancy, and a brother James who died in infancy.

Funeral services for Wilfred Reckelhoff will be at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August, 6 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

Friends may call from 3:00pm-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. A rosary will be prayed at 2:45 p.m. by the St. Joseph Parish.
