Wilfred A. “Butch” Schwinghamer, 89

Wilfred A. “Butch” Schwinghamer, 89, St. Henry, died at 11:48 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
He was born in Jasper on Dec. 5, 1925, to James and Doreathea (Heilers) Schwinghamer. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Mehringer on Oct. 28, 1950, in St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland.
Mr. Schwinghamer retired from Jasper Seating Co. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and served in northern France, Ardennes and Rhineland in the European Theater. He was a member of Ferdinand Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Schwinghamer; a son, David Schwinghamer and wife Sue of St. Henry; three daughters, Nancy Beier and Brenda Dietrich, both of Jasper, and Janet English and husband Brent of Franklin; two sisters, Viola Seidl of Huntingburg and Mary Stidahm of Everett, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Mark and an infant, Brian, Schwinghamer; two brothers, Al and John Schwinghamer; a sister, Nora Mitchell; and a grandson.
There will be no visitation. A service will be at a later date.
Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand is in charge of arrangements.
