Wilda Mae Barnett, 83

Wilda Mae Barnett, 83, of Huntingburg, passed away at 1:47 a.m., on Friday, February 20, 2015, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

She was born July 25, 1931 in Dubois, Indiana, to Victor and Lorena (Zehr) Gehlhausen. She married Roy C. Barnett on December 27, 1953 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois.

Wilda worked as a retail sales clerk; was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg; and enjoyed reading and sitting outside having a drink while listening to music.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy C. Barnett, who died in 1998; two sisters, Vera Brown and Janice Gerber; and one grandchild.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kay (Carl) Morgan of Birdseye; one son, Mark Barnett of Huntingburg; two brothers, Arthur A. Gehlhausen of Saint George, Utah and Edgar “Boots” Gehlhausen of Dubois; one sister,Virginia Heim of Ireland; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services for Wilda Mae Barnett will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Raphael Cemetery in Dubois.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday.

A parish vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
