Wendell G. Buse, 92

Wendell G. Buse, 92, of Holland passed away at 12:34 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015, in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
He was born near Holland, Indiana, on December 6, 1922, to Oliver and Elsie (Meyer) Buse. He married Vivian Martha Katherine Wellemeyer on August 4, 1946 at Holland.
Wendell was a retired mechanic; over the years he worked for the Holland Garage, Holland Dairy and Peabody Coal Company. He was a dedicated member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Holland where he taught Sunday school and served on the Church Council.
Wendell was a lifetime member of the Holland American Legion Post #343; enjoyed outdoor activities on his farm, was an avid coon hunter, and was an Indiana University Basketball fan. He served during World War II as an Army combat medic in the 97th Infantry, in the European theatre, from 1943-1946.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Buse, who passed away January 21, 1999; one daughter, Lisa Lindauer; two brothers, Andrew Buse and Henry Buse; and five sisters, Bernice Siebe, Geneva Gee, Marjorie Rothert, Dorothy Hildenbrand and Betty Neukam.
He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Gary (Donna) Buse of Richland, Ind., and David Buse of Holland, two daughters and one son-in-law, Vickie (Bill) Hungate of Las Vegas, Nev., and Jana Buse of Nashville, Tenn.; one son-in-law, Daniel Lindauer of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; one brother, Esto (June) Buse of Holland; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Wendell G. Buse will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2015, at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland with burial to follow at St. James Lutheran Cemetery in Holland.
Reverend Cindy Geisen will officiate at the service.
The Holland American Legion Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Saturday; and also at St. James Lutheran Church from 2:00-3:00 p.m., Sunday. Memorial donations can be made to St. James Lutheran Church or to a favorite charity.
