Wehr files to retain county council seat

Martha A. Wehr has filed as a candidate for Dubois County Council-At-Large.
Wehr has served on the county council the past seven years and served as auditor of Dubois County from 2000 through 2007. She was president of the Indiana County Auditors’ Association in 2007 and served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Indiana Counties from 2001 through 2007, by serving on the legislative committee, the nominating committee and the by-laws committee.
She was appointed by the Speaker of the Indiana House of Representatives to serve on the Indiana Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations in 2005, 2006 and 2007. She currently serves on the 911 Advisory Board, as well as being involved with the committee charged with upgrading the county radio and communications system.
Wehr also serves on a task force committee to recreate and update the County Policy and Procedures Manual for county employees.
Wehr has served as controller for the Solid Waste Management District since 2003 and is employed at the Jasper law firm of Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP.
A graduate of Jasper High School, Wehr is also a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Jasper Outdoor Recreation Club, and has volunteered in the past at Holy Family School, Freedom Reins and as a 4-H leader and Boy Scout leader.
She is a lifelong resident of Dubois County and the daughter of Sylvester and Irene Giesler. She raised two children with her late husband, Rich, a son, Jesse, a daughter, Rachel Moesner, and has two grandsons.
“Serving as a council member and as the auditor of Dubois County gives me the necessary experience and understanding of the budget process, tax rates and tax levies to meet budget requirements and set priorities for the allocation of county funds,” said Wehr. “I believe there is a need for cooperation and teamwork among all elected officials and I look forward to serving all taxpayers of Dubois County in a fair manner.”
