Warrant scam warning

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department has issued a warning to residents regarding a scam in which callers are identifying themselves as the sheriff’s department.

The callers are telling potential victims they have violations or warrants in an attempt to garner private information from the victims.

The sheriff’s department wants the public to know that although they do contact residents by phone, they will not ask for personal information when they make those calls.

They added that they will never ask for money over the phone.
